Our club member, Mineko Mohri, will share her passion of art. On this occasion, she will present on Japanese art "Ukiyo-e paintings". Mineko's grandparents were very talented in paintings. Her mother is a professor ("Shihan") of Japanese calligraphy ("Shodō") and the Japanese art of flower arrangement ("Kadō"). And Mineko loves appreciating art!
Have you heard of the names: Hokusai or Hiroshige? Are you familiar with the woodblock prints called "The Great Wave (off Kanagawa)"? Mineko will take us on a journey of "Ukiyo-e". You will discover beyond the big wave, classical Japanese art, the spirit of great artists, and the Edo period (1603-1868). After her presentation, you might feel a desire to go to Paris. Why? Find out!
